Value Processes

Take your values down from the wall …

Whether we are defining a new set of values for the company or whether we are invigorating existing values, it all boils down to a transformation of values to behaviour; and in that process it is important to involve leaders and employees in order to make them commit themselves to the values.

Who
The values are the glue of the organisation as they describe the way in which its members want to coexist; they cannot, therefore, just be drawn up in an afternoon. If values are to be defined or invigorated, then the entire organisation – from the top executive team to the factory worker – must relate actively to the values. Otherwise the value-poster will be left slowly fraying on the wall.

What
Focus can change as time goes by and it is, therefore, important that the value process is linked directly to the current company ambition and its real values.
